A Message from President & CEO

At South Shore Child Guidance Center, we work to help children and families navigate through difficult emotional experiences.  We help children who are struggling with life’s challenges, whether they are significant emotional events, destructive behavior patterns or substance abuse issues within the family. Through a broad range of therapy options, we work with children to help them to learn about themselves and to better understand emotional and social growing pains.

Our services, including assessments, treatment and support services, are adapted to the individual needs of our children and their families.  South Shore Child Guidance Center offers individual, group, multi-family and psycho-educational therapy. We are Nassau County’s only provider of children’s emergency services including the Mobile Crisis Team, Home-Based Crisis Intervention and After Care Programs. In addition, we offer NYS approved substance abuse counseling and treatment therapies.  We are among the few agencies in Nassau County licensed to treat children and have served Freeport and the surrounding communities for almost 60 years.

I am honored to take on the role of President & CEO of South Shore Child Guidance Center, and look forward continuing a long tradition of providing exceptional care to our communities. I encourage you to call us if you think you or your child might benefit from talking to a trained clinician.  We are here to help children grow into healthy young adults able to meet the challenges that life presents to all of us. I believe that is what we all want for our children.

Tom Hopkins
