The South Shore Child Guidance Center’s Home Based Crisis Intervention Program provides short-term intensive home based services to families in order to prevent the psychiatric hospitalization of a child or adolescent. Nassau County residents between the ages of 5-18 who are at risk for a psychiatric hospitalization are eligible for the Home Based Crisis Intervention Program.

We respond to referrals within twenty-four hours.

Home Based Crisis Intervention is devoted to working with the entire family involved in a crisis situation. We have found it most effective to include all of those impacted by the crisis in the treatment process. Each member’s input is important to us, as everyone contributes to the solution.

There are no fees for this program. Funding is provided by the Nassau County Department of Mental Health, Chemical Dependency and Developmental Disabilities and, New York State Office of Mental Health.
